At FCDS, the performing arts are a collective journey. Music education begins in Kindergarten and evolves through 9th Grade, fostering a culture where every boy is encouraged to find his unique voice within a supportive community.
A Foundation in Performance
From their first years, boys develop a functional language of music—learning to read, compose, and play. Our hands-on curriculum introduces students to a diverse range of instruments, including recorders, chimes, handbells, piano, and ukulele. This instrumental progression builds technical skill alongside the courage to create.
The Power of the Ensemble
As boys grow, so does the scale of their collaboration. Our 7th–9th Grade Concert Choir serves as a focal point for vocal discipline and teamwork. For those seeking to dive deeper, extracurricular groups like our Pinstripes A Cappella ensemble and the Strings & Instruments band offer specialized environments to master their craft.
Stage & Leadership
For our older students in 7th–9th Grade, the yearly Spring Musical provides a dedicated platform to take center stage. This experience allows our senior boys to model leadership and creative risk-taking for the younger grades, culminating in a professional-level production that celebrates the confidence and character of the FCDS boy.
