Development Associate

Job Type: Full-time / possible part-time

Supervision Received: The Development Associate reports to the Director of Development.

General Statement of Duties

Fairfield Country Day School (FCDS) is a leading independent boys day school in Fairfield, Connecticut for students in kindergarten through grade nine. FCDS seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to provide critical support for the school’s Development Department.

The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Development to support and execute key fundraising initiatives throughout the year. This position offers a wonderful opportunity to experience all aspects of independent school fund development through event management, volunteer coordination, campaign facilitation, and donor cultivation.  This person will work closely with all members of the school community including: faculty and staff, current parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents. The ability to build relationships, communicate clearly and effectively, and help manage multiple projects is essential.  And, a positive, can-do spirit is a must. 

Specific Responsibilities
  • Event support (i.e. invitation creation, RSVP tracking, name tag generation, event check-in) for annual fundraising + friendraising events, including:
    • State of the School Celebration
    • Grandparents Day 
    • Spring Gala
    • Campaign events
  • Ability to work efficiently within various databases, including: Raisers’ Edge, Give Smart, and Blackbaud Research Point
  • Coordinate and execute annual fund solicitation to all constituencies
  • Parent Volunteer Liaison
  • Capital Campaign support
  • Serve as a liaison between the Development Office and the Marketing / Communications team and generate reports for publications
  • Assist with alumni engagement efforts throughout the year including managing class notes, supporting alumni reunion and other gatherings, assisting with alumni fundraising efforts, supporting alumni outcomes and story/editorial efforts. 
  • Discretion and confidentiality at all times
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree and at least two years of fundraising experience, preferably in an educational environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite, comfort with databases (Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge /RE NXT  database experience required), and insight into emergent technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • This position will require occasional evening and weekend work
Desired Qualities
  • Fundraising, constituent engagement, and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fun and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to manage short- and long-term projects
  • Ability to collaborate and work with administrators, faculty, staff, and volunteers on a productive and positive basis
