Faith Ringold

In honor of Black History Month, the 1st Grade boys learned about the artwork of Faith Ringold.
Ms. Ringold is an artist, author & illustrator who is well known for her “story quilts”.We also read her book, “Tar Beach”, which was the inspiration for their artwork. In the book, the girl flies over the George Washington Bridge and pretends that it then belongs to her. The boys created pictures of themselves flying over a place that they would like to own. They also created frames using fabric to resemble a quilt. The boys’ artwork is now on display in the hallway for everyone to enjoy.
