Director of Inclusive Excellence:
Shabi Vereen P;23, '27, shabiroon.vereen@fairfieldcountryday.org

At FCDS, we strive to achieve Inclusive Excellence through a deliberate approach grounded in community building. Our goal is to cultivate an environment where every member of our community feels respected, supported and valued–regardless of their background, abilities, or identities. We believe that our commitment to inclusive excellence goes beyond merely having a diverse community; it places belonging at the core of our School's mission and vision. Belonging asserts that by strengthening our diverse experiences through meaningful connections, we will actively embrace each other's differences and empower students to thrive academically and socio-emotionally. We commit to Meet The Moment by:
  • Continuing to enhance diverse representation across the School community.
  • Providing equitable opportunities for all students.
  • Developing a curriculum that mirrors and offers windows into the experiences, histories, and perspectives of a wide range of individuals and communities.
  • Cultivating a safe and supportive environment where students can freely express their identities and opinions without the fear of discrimination or exclusion.
  • Employing culturally-responsive teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring active participation and academic excellence for all students.
  • Collaborating with families, teachers and staff to solicit input and consistently enhance the School's inclusive practices.
  • Continuously assessing and refining policies, practices, and curricula to align more effectively with the strategic goals of inclusive excellence and to address any emerging disparities or challenges.
