Position Summary
The 5th-grade teacher is responsible for fostering a classroom environment where curiosity, academic growth, a sense of belonging, and character development thrive. The ideal candidate brings joy, professionalism, and a commitment to inclusive teaching practices that support a diverse range of learners.
This role includes teaching core subjects in math and writing, as well as serving as a homeroom teacher and guiding students during study hall. Collaboration with colleagues is essential, as we work together to support the whole-child experience and foster a vibrant, connected school community.

 
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
  • Design and deliver engaging, research-informed lessons that promote deep thinking, active learning, and skill development.
  • Foster a classroom culture rooted in respect, integrity, and positive relationships.
  • Use varied instructional strategies that reflect the developmental needs of boys, including movement, collaboration, reflection, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide opportunities for students to strengthen executive function, self-advocacy, and confidence as learners.
  • Integrate literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based approaches across content areas.
Assessment & Data-Informed Practice
  • Use multiple forms of data—formative assessments, student work, observations, and conversations—to guide instructional decisions.
  • Offer timely, clear, and constructive feedback that supports student learning and growth.
  • Partner with colleagues to align curriculum and ensure continuity across grade levels.
Student Support & Homeroom Teacher Responsibilities
  • Serve as a 5th Grade homeroom teacher, helping students develop strong habits of mind, social-emotional skills, and positive peer relationships.
  • Collaborate with families with warmth, respect, and transparency to support each student’s academic and personal development.
Professional Collaboration
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning related to best practices, inclusive pedagogy, and the developmental needs of boys.
  • Model a growth mindset and contribute positively to a collaborative, mission-aligned team culture.
  • Uphold school values through daily interactions and decisions that reflect courage, compassion, and commitment to community.
 

 
Qualifications

To thrive in this role, candidates should bring the following essential experiences and commitments:
  • Educational foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience: Demonstrated success working with elementary-aged students and understanding their unique developmental needs.

Preferred
