FCDS FUNDRAISING @ WORK

Gifts to FCDS are quickly directed to the School’s most important priorities— high quality academics, strong athletics and arts programs, vibrant student life activities, and campus revitalization. Philanthropic support provides flexibility and nimbleness to create immediate growth opportunities throughout the year. 
 
Below is a working list of specific programs, initiatives, and purchases that have already been made possible through philanthropic dollars (i.e. donations made to the School through the FCDS Fund, Spring PA Celebration, and Restricted gifts) over the last year:

  • Building/Campus Infrastructure:

    • Renovated The Sullinger Center, our new home for The Boys Lab
    • Replaced one of our two Zambonis and compressor for The Worthington Johnson Ice Rink
    • Constructed new Class of 2022 Firepit and Patio and landscaping with support from members of the Class of 2022 and their families
    • Renovated Learning Commons to include our new Student Success Team
    • Renovated Music Classroom to allow for improved practice space and instrument storage
    • Refurbished parts of the Middle  and Upper School wings with new carpeting, paint and blinds
    • Modified portion of Rosow Auditorium stage to allow better access from both sides
    • Painted exterior of Bronson Road Cottage
    • Improved various landscaping and exterior projects, including exterior steps from administrative parking lot to Blair Field, Bronson Road iron fence
    • Upgraded Heating and Air Conditioning on Roof of main building

  • Technology:

    • Purchased a set of laptops for our sixth grade, classroom sets of new ipads for Lower School, and upgraded remaining student devices with latest programs and applications.
    • Implemented new WIFI infrastructure, including new servers and network switches, campus-wide
    • Upgraded our Storage Area Network to better manage mobile accounts
    • Replaced electronic door access control system with improved safety features 
    • Increased the camera installations for improved visibility of campus and building 

  • Classroom:

    • Classroom set of 3D virtual reality headsets
    • Fish for our School’s two fish tanks
    • Set of 3 Compact Multi-Lens Microscopes
    • 1.3MP USB Color CMOS C Mount Microscope
    • Modular Robotics Cubelets Makers Pack
    • Sphero Mini Education Pack Robotic Balls to expand imagination in STEAM learning 
    • Plantings and improvements at the FCDS Pollinator Garden

  • Professional Development:

    • Sponsored fifteen (15) faculty members to attend the annual International Boys School Coalition Conferences at St. Mark’s School in Dallas, TX in 2022 and Westlake Boys High School in Auckland, New Zealand in 2023 
    • Administrative Retreat with Marsha Little, Director of Professional Learning and Development at Carney Sandoe & Associates
    • Continued partnership with Lawrence Alexander, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging practitioner
    • Various professional development workshops, conferences and seminars, for more than two dozen faculty members ranging from Math, French, Art, technology, DEI, leadership training, and more

  • AND… with a successful 2023-2024 Fundraising year we plan to:

    • Expand our Faculty Professional Development Offerings to allow even more faculty to take advantage of International Boys School Coalition PD offerings, travel stipends, and opportunities specifically focused on key elements of our 2022 Strategic Plan: Boys Lab and Student Success Team 
    • Expand our mascot branding to include wall murals and decals in the gym and rink
    • Continue to invest in our technology upgrades, including Lego Robotics equipment, two (2) new 3D printers and printer materials, laptop replacement and printers for all teachers, and infrastructure improvements
    • Increased budget for security, including additional security cameras and door locks
    • Replace and expand bells, chimes, and drums for our Music Department
    • Playground enhancement
    • Renovate Crossfit space and add equipment 
    • Upgrades to our maintenance equipment and storage, including snowblower, Skidsteer, golf cart, and shed
    • And so much more…

Fairfield Country Day School (FCDS) is a private, all-boys day school in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Founded in 1936 by Laurence W. Gregory, the school has admitted only boys since its inception.
