Instructional practices and training by our coaches, who are also teachers, strengthens relationships with students and serves to create a culture of camaraderie and support.

All of our older students participate in intramural and interscholastic sports as part of their school day, and our Fairfield athletics program and facilities offer opportunities for all boys, regardless of their ability or skill set.

Whether it’s the youngest boys learning to skate on the Worthington Johnson Rink, our oldest boys practicing free throws in the Foley Family Gymnasium, or our student-athletes competing in lacrosse and baseball games; our teaching coaches provide the type of professional instruction and expertise necessary to foster healthy competition. With this comes a proud tradition of success in developing confident student-athletes who go on to play at the highest levels in high school, college, and beyond.

The strong commitment we have to making our Fairfield athletics programs valuable and worthwhile is proudly emphasized by our tradition of mandatory participation. Athletics are considered an important factor in making the educational experience at FCDS well-rounded and complete. Since the coaches are teachers from the classroom, the extended relationships with the students serve to create a culture of comradeship and total support.

Boys’ Institute for Growth

Sports can build confidence, connect boys to each other through action, and help them express emotions that they too often are not allowed to express in regular, daily life.
Fairfield Country Day School (FCDS) is a private, all-boys day school in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Founded in 1936 by Laurence W. Gregory, the school has admitted only boys since its inception. As per our mission: Fairfield Country Day School provides an educational community dedicated to the development of impactful young leaders of character and purpose; ready to face the everyday challenges and pivotal turning points of their lifetime with confidence, courage and compassion. Its balanced and challenging program is designed to help each student expand his desire and ability to acquire knowledge, capture his imagination, stimulate his curiosity and creativity, and enhance his self-esteem and respect for others. Each boy’s individual growth is encouraged in an environment that anticipates the future while appreciating the past.

FCDS admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
