  • School Counselor

    Fairfield Country Day School is looking for a dynamic, caring individual to serve as the school counselor starting in August 2020. Founded in 1936, Fairfield Country Day School is an all boys day school serving 210 students in Grades K–9 and is located in the Greenfield Hills section of Fairfield, CT.     The School Counselor works closely with the School’s three Division Heads and reports to the Head of School. Responsibilities include the following:
     
    • counseling students regularly to support their social, emotional, behavioral, or educational needs
    • making recommendations to families about additional outside support and being the primary school contact for students’ outside care providers
    • in conjunction with school leadership, helping build and teach a social-emotional learning curriculum
    • working closely with teachers to determine student needs and offer guidance about ways teachers can best support students
    • leading professional development for faculty around social-emotional needs of students
    • offering ongoing education and resources to the parent community
    • attending faculty meetings in the lower, middle and upper school divisions
    • partnering with the administration on school policies around mental health, bullying, and mandated reporting
    • assisting in the event of a crisis
    • interpreting neuro-psychological evaluations
    • participating actively in the life of the school; depending on the needs of the school and interest of the candidate, there may be opportunities for additional teaching, coaching, advising, chaperoning, club leadership, and other activities.
    The ideal candidate will: 
    • be a certified school counselor or have an advanced degree and and license in a related field (e.g. psychology, social work, counseling)
    • have at least three years experience providing counseling support to boys ages five to fifteen
    • be interested in collaborative work within a school community and have experience with developing and teaching a social-emotional development curriculum.  
    • have independent school experience or familiarity (preferred)
    • bring experience in a clinical setting

  • Short Term Substitute Opportunity

    Fairfield Country Day School seeks a fourth-grade classroom teacher to fill a family medical leave from early April through mid-May. We are looking for an individual who enjoys a relational learning experience with young boys and possesses a keen knowledge of English (grammar and writing), history of civilizations, and Executive Functioning skills.
