Advisor Program

One of the greatest benefits to a private school education is the relationship that can form between a teacher and a student. And although these relationships will often form on their own, the FCDS Advisor Program ensures that each boy in grades six through nine has a faculty member to whom he can turn for friendship and advice.
For this reason, our Advisor Program is one of the most important aspects of the Middle and Upper School experience. The program begins in sixth grade and continues throughout the duration of a student’s career until his graduation in ninth grade. Each faculty member has eight or nine advisees.

Resource for Parents

The advisor is the first line of communication between home and the school. There are several opportunities for the advisor to meet with the parents throughout the year to discuss progress. These meetings are frequently supplemented with regular informal updates from the advisor.

Every Friday the boys meet with their advisor groups to discuss both academic and personal issues. These weekly meetings provide a forum to check progress, lend encouragement and answer questions.

In addition to these weekly gatherings, the advisor mentors and advocates for each boy on a daily basis.
