How to Apply

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is a child’s first introduction to school.  It’s vital that parents seek out an environment that will help their son build confidence, encourage curiosity, and enjoy boyhood.  At FCDS, we offer a nurturing environment that celebrates academic, social and character development from the start.

Step 1: Parent Tour and Interview
Take a guided tour with a member of our Admissions team to see what makes FCDS such a special place. During your visit you will have the opportunity to tour our vibrant campus, meet some of our faculty, and see our Kindergarten classroom in action.  To schedule your tour, please fill out our inquiry form and we will be in touch to find a visit time that's convenient for you.

Step 2: Preliminary Online Application
Create an online account on Ravenna, our application portal, by clicking here. Ravenna will provide you with our preliminary application instructions for each step in the admission process, and a checklist for families to track their progress.

Step 3: Readiness Screening
Once you have completed our preliminary application on Ravenna, we will reach out to schedule your son's Kindergarten Readiness Screening.  During this 30-minute visit, your prospective Kindergartener will be guided through the our readiness assessment with a member of our Admissions team while you’ll have the opportunity to chat with our Director of Enrollment.

Step 4: Kindergarten Observation
On a Wednesday morning in late January, we invite our Kindergarten applicants to join our Kindergarten teacher in their classroom for a morning of lessons and activities. Registration for this event is available within your Ravenna account.  If you and your child are not able to attend on the scheduled day, we will happily arrange for another visit time.

Step 5: Teacher Recommendation
Ravenna will provide you with instructions on how to email our Teacher Recommendation form to your child’s preschool teacher.  Alternatively, you can access a downloadable version of the form if your child’s teacher is more comfortable with mailing a printed version to FCDS.

Step 6: Tuition Assistance Application (optional)
We offer need-based Tuition Assistance to those who qualify.  To find out if your family would qualify,  you must complete an application via Clarity.  Clarity is a secure website that shares your information with FCDS upon your request.  Note that both your Ravenna application and your Clarity application share the same priority application deadline in February.
