 | The FCDS Board of Trustees is responsible for formulating the long term policy and direction of the school and communicating that to the headmaster and his administrative team. The Board is comprised of alumni, current and former parents as well as interested people in the community. Each member of the Board has evidenced a long term commitment to the school’s success. Every effort is made to see that the Board represents a broad cross section of our school community and includes individuals who bring particular talents to the school.
The Board meets eight times a year. However, individual committees of the Board meet more frequently on issues such as long term planning, finance, and development. An executive committee of the Board includes the Board chair, vice president, treasurer and secretary, and it meets regularly with the headmaster.
The Board gives the headmaster and his team broad discretion in the day to day running of the school, personnel decisions, curriculum and discipline issues. The Board reviews the headmaster’s performance each year to insure that he has clear goals as well as the resources and support to achieve those goals. The Board chair presides over the annual meeting of the FCDS corporation held each May where all members of the school community are invited to attend.

At Fairfield Country Day School we are very proud of our active Board of Trustees. These volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that the School lives our motto, “We are Judged by Our Deeds”. Trustees are current parents, past parents, former faculty, alumni and friends of the School. Each Board member draws on personal experience to advise the School administration on matters including finance, legal, fundraising, construction, marketing, technology, personnel and program.
Throughout the year, the Board of Trustees' work is accomplished through committees, which meet on a frequent basis. The Board committees include: Executive, Finance, Governance, Investments, Audit, Development, Building and Property, and ad hoc committees as needed.
The Annual Meeting of the Fairfield Country Day School is held each year in May, with annual committee reports and election of new members to the Board and re-election of members whose terms are expiring.
